The Many Benefits of Facial Peels, By Dr. Mostamand

Published by admin under Anti-aging skin care

Facial peels were previously restricted to those women who could afford frequent trips to the spa for treatments. However, the introduction of products by many top skin care companies has allowed many to enjoy the benefits of facial peels right at home. Facial peels are an excellent way to treat skin that has been damaged by the sun, acne or the effects of aging. This article will provide a brief overview of the benefits of facial peels, along with some of the best companies offering products to use at home for this purpose.

What do Facial Peels Do?

A facial peel consists of an ingredient that can remove dead, dry skin cells on the surface of the skin, revealing softer, smoother skin cells underneath. Ingredients included in these peels typically consist of exfoliating substances like alpha or beta hydroxyl acids and retinol. More intense peels usually use an ingredient known as trichloracetic acid or TCA. While TCA peels are most commonly found in salons, you can also find products with TCA to use in the home.

Facial peels vary considerably in terms of just how intense the treatment might be. The lighter peels usually don’t reveal as dramatic results, but they also don’t require a recovery period of any kind. The more intense peels are usually best done under a doctor’s supervision. Lighter peels can be done weekly or even daily, depending on the formula. Deeper peels are usually done monthly or even less frequently to maintain the desired results.

dr dennis gross skincare at Home

One company that offers a daily peel to use at home is dr dennis gross skincare. This company provides an alternative to surgical peels that is completed in as little as two minutes a day. dr dennis gross skincare peels contain salicylic acid, glycolic acid, lactic acid and malic acid. The program consists of a twofold approach that includes the application of the peel, which remains on the skin for about two minutes, followed by the application of a neutralizer. Both formulas are applied to the skin with pre-moistened pads that can be disposed of when finished. This program is a great way to enjoy facial peels daily, without much time or skin irritation to grapple with.

Professional PCA Skincare Treatments

Another option in facial peels that is quite popular is PCA Skincare facial peels. These formulas typically use more potent ingredients that are usually applied by a professional esthetician or doctor in a salon or clinic. PCA offers a variety of facial peels to address every possible need and skin type. For those seeking peels in a salon setting, the company also provides a line of skin care products that can be effectively used after the peel for more rapid healing and smoother skin. Most of the PCA facial peels use a combination of ingredients that include TCA for the best results.

Facial peels are a wonderful way to revive tired skin and achieve a softer, more youthful appearance. These treatments can erase the fine lines of aging and eliminate other blemishes and discolorations that can appear on the skin. Whether you choose a facial peel that you can do at home or head to the salon for a full treatment, facial peels are a popular way to enjoy more beautiful skin.

How to Look Younger with Anti-Aging Mineral Makeup

Mineral makeup has been used for centuries, but recently, it has garnered much more attention. Mineral makeup has been touted as better for the skin because the all-natural formulas are devoid of artificial fragrances, dyes or preservatives. However, the benefits may go well beyond the “natural” label. Consider these reasons to try mineral makeup and tips to find the best product line for your needs.

Benefits of Mineral Makeup

There are many reasons to consider mineral makeup for a cleaner, healthier complexion. Mineral makeup provides much lighter coverage with a unique blend of all natural ingredients free of chemicals and other harmful substances. However, the lighter feel of the makeup does not affect coverage; the products are still quite capable of hiding flaws like scars and fine lines, while providing a smooth, even skin tone. Some of the other benefits of mineral makeup include:

  • Won’t damage the skin’s surface
  • Lasts longer than other types of makeup
  • Better coverage for a flawless complexion
  • Reduces the risk of breakouts since pores aren’t clogged
  • Won’t irritate the skin

In addition to these benefits, some find that mineral makeup can even turn back the clock on the skin.

How Mineral Makeup Fights Aging Skin

One of the primary causes of aging skin is the sun. The harmful rays can lead to dry, sagging skin and the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It is important to protect your skin from this damage without using thick sunscreens that could lead to breakouts or irritation. This is where mineral makeup comes into play, with a hefty dose of sun protecting agents like zinc oxide and titanium dioxide included in the formulas. Some mineral makeup products provide up to an SPF 30 for the delicate skin of your face.

Recommended Mineral Makeup Lines

There are many mineral makeup companies today, but not all are created equal. It is important to look for companies that use only natural ingredients without any artificial dyes, perfumes or preservative clogging up the formulas. One such company is Jane Iredale, which is recommended by dermatologists and cosmetic surgeons because of its safety and benefits. The state-of-the-art formulas created by Jane Iredale come in a wide range of shades to suit every skin tone.

Another good mineral makeup source is Colorescience, which uses only the highest quality of ingredients in their formulas. These products are packed with important nutrients like antioxidants and enzymes that treat the skin even as they provide a more beautiful complexion.

Finally, Glominerals offers a wide line of cosmetics in fashion-forward shades and a few color classics included for good measure. If you are a style diva who is always tuned into the latest styles, Glominerals all natural line will be just what you need.

Mineral makeup treats your skin right, offering sufficient coverage without clogging pores or irritating the skin. When it comes to turning back the clock on the skin, these all-natural formulas will protect the skin from the aging process and effectively cover the early aging effects that have already appeared.

Say Goodbye to Tired Eyes – How to Erase Dark Circles

Published by admin under Anti-aging skin care, Eye care

Dr. Farid Mostamand

Most women yearn for the days when their eyes were bright, vivid, and young. However, from aging, stress, and tiredness, dark circles make the eyes appear tired and much older than they really are.

Alas, until recently, there were few products that would do much to resolve this problem. However, an understanding of why dark circles appear has helped researchers develop eye treatments that can reduce the appearance of tired eyes, leaving the eyes appearing brighter and much younger looking.

Why Do Dark Circles Appear Around the Eyes?

There have been many theories circulating about why dark circles appear around the eyes. Some of the most common include:

  • Nasal congestion from allergies
  • Water retention that occurs during sleep
  • Lack of sleep and stress
  • Too much sodium in the diet
  • Smoking

While all of these factors may contribute to dark circles under the eyes, the underlying reason for the condition is blood from the capillaries that leaks into the area, forming bluish-red pigmentation that resembles a bruise.

By understanding this process and the factors that can contribute to the problem, it is easier to prevent dark circles from occurring. Of course, you can also more effectively find the right eye treatments that will reduce your dark circles.

Possible Treatments for Dark Circles

  • Hylexin – Hylexin, developed by Bremenn Research Labs, targets the heart of the problem with dark circles. Hylexin provides the best environment for enzymatic activity so the capillaries stop leaking red blood cells. Clinical trials conducted by Bremenn showed that 72% of the women with serious dark circles that used Hylexin saw visible improvement in their under-eye area. This product is primarily designed for those with severe dark circles, although others may benefit from the formula as well.
  • Kinerase – The well-known skin care company also offers a solution to circles under the eye. Kinerase’s Under Eye Rescue takes a different approach to dark circles by providing a nutrient-rich formula that works for fine lines and wrinkles, as well as the appearance of tired eyes. This Kinerase combination uses peptides, collagen and kinetin to diminish the look of dark circles and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles at the same time. In addition, Kinerase’s Under Eye Rescue is non-comedogenic, hypoallergenic and fragrance-free, so it can work on this sensitive area quite adeptly.
  • VivierVivier Dark Circle Diminishing Eye Cream packs a powerful nutrient punch with vitamin K and potent antioxidants. When vitamin K is used on a daily basis, it has been shown to reduce the appearance of puffiness, as well as dark circles. In addition, Vivier includes antioxidants in the form of vitamin-C IDS, which reduce fluid buildup under the eyes, and therefore, decrease the look of dark circles. This Vivier combination not only works to reduce the appearance of dark circles, but it will also give the user younger-looking skin by minimizing the look of fine lines and wrinkle.

Dark circles are not a desirable characteristic, but there are methods for reducing their appearance. Whether you decide to tackle dark circles by altering enzymatic activity or feed the under-eye area with a powerful punch of vitamins and antioxidants, you can reduce the look of those annoying dark circles once and for all.

Enhancing Your Natural Eyelashes: By Dr. Farid Mostamand

Nothing makes a woman feel more glamorous than full, long eyelashes. But few of us are willing to stand in front of the mirror each morning to apply false eyelashes. Another alternative is the professional application of eyelash extensions, in which individual eyelash enhancers are glued to the root of your already existing lashes. This process, however, is also relatively time consuming and can be quite costly. So, what is a girl to do if she wants to add a little length and fullness to her natural lashes? The answer is the great range of lash conditioners and enhancers now available on the market. Here’s a look at three of our favorites:

B. Kamins’ Eyelash Fortifier

One of the newest products in the brand’s line, B. Kamins presents this fabulous eyelash enhancement product featuring pharmaceutical grade ingredients of the highest quality and purity. This company is committed to providing cutting edge and realistic solutions for their customer’s skin care needs. The Eyelash Fortifier is so effective because of its unique peptide growth and substance formulation, which increase microcirculation around the hair follicles to promote growth and strengthening delicate lashes against environmental damage. What makes this product so exciting is that it will actually extend and fill out the appearance of your lashes, even without makeup! What’s more, B. Kamins Eyelash Fortifier is ophthalmologist tested and safe for use by contact wearers.

Lipocils Eyelash Conditioning Gel from Talika

French spa line Talika is boasting some exciting results produced by its Lipocils Eyelash Conditioning Gel. Clinically tested at Hospital La Pitié – Salpêtrière in Paris, over two-thirds of the treated eyelashes and eyebrows tripled in length after 28 days of repeated application. Applied twice a day on cleansed lashes and eyebrows, this breakthrough product is formulated with a unique blend of herbal extracts. Nettle stimulates eyelash growth, Horse Chestnut promotes circulation around the follicles, while Witch Hazel and St. John’s Wort calm and soothe irritated follicles. This product is the perfect for women with sparse or short lashes, or for women who apply a lot of eye makeup. By preventing environmental damage and soothing inflammation, this effective gel promotes noticeable growth and fullness.

Advanced Essential Lash by Neova

Using the clinically proven AHK Copper Peptide Complex formulation, the product adds length and fullness to lashes through its restorative ingredients. Copper has long been recognized as an essential element to maintaining health and vitality in the human body. It is used in nearly every cell in the body. The copper peptide technology used in Advanced Essential Lash facilitates precise delivery of the copper peptides to the eyelash follicles where it then stimulates collagen and protein producing cells. This in turn nourishes lashes and prevents them from breakage. The product is so interesting because it actually mimics the body’s own copper delivery system. Clinically and physician tested, Advanced Essential Lash is hypo-allergenic, non-irritating and free of harmful parabens. You don’t have to spend hours in front of the mirror or at the beautician to get those long, full lashes you’ve been wanting. These great, research-backed products make longer, more luscious looking lashes possible for everyone.

Is your adult acne getting old? By Dr. Farid Mostamand

Published by admin under Acne

If you are an adult living with acne, you probably started getting sick of it…about twenty years ago. Acne is for teenagers, right? Unfortunately, acne can continue long after puberty. Some deal with acne well into their adult years and even into middle age. Adult acne can be very frustrating. Adult acne can make it difficult to imagine ever having clear skin. For the most part, adult acne is a problem for young adults and women who are pregnant, otherwise known as gestational acne. But for some adults, acne continues for years, well into midlife, and they don’t know why.

For the most part, adult acne is caused by the same things as teenage acne. Hormone imbalance plays a tremendous role in the presence of acne. As a teenager, your hormones rage as you go through puberty. As a young adult, your hormones may still be in the process of stabilizing. However, if you’re well into your thirties or forties, your hormone levels should have reached normal levels long ago. If you are experiencing adult acne, having your hormone levels checked by your doctor is a great first step to discovering the root of the problem.

Even though adult acne is not caused by poor hygiene, there are some things you might be doing unconsciously that are preventing you from enjoying clear skin. If you have the habit of touching your skin, this could be contributing to your adult acne. Your hands and fingernails constantly carry bacteria that cause acne. Or, make sure that the products you are using to wash your face, make up, shampoo and conditioner, or other personal care products do not contain ingredients that are irritating your skin. Also, if you have been struggling with adult acne for many years, you’ve probably developed very good habits for keeping your face clean. If so, you might actually be washing your face too often or using products that are too drying and harsh. Washing your face once or twice daily with a mild water-based cleanser, like the cleanser in the MD Formulations Adult Anti-Blemish Kit for adult acne, should do the trick.

Consulting your doctor about your adult acne is a great way to combat your condition. Your dermatologist will be able to discern what kind of acne you have and the best way to treat it. Certain kinds of adult acne may respond well to an oral antibiotic or a prescription topical formula. But there are lots of great acne skin care products that are available without a doctor’s prescription. With the right ingredients, treating your adult acne at home with strong products may be the answer. Products like B. Kamins Acne Starter Kit and Glytone Acne Treatment Kit that both contain benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid are the most effective in treating adult acne. There are lots of acne skin care products out there, but if they don’t contain a key ingredient like benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid, you might be wasting your money and your time.

Even if you’ve been fighting adult acne for several decades, don’t give up. You can beat adult acne. Talk to your doctor, examine your habits, and make sure you’re using the right skin care products . You will be on your way to saying goodbye to adult acne.

How Peels with Glycolic Acid Prevent Wrinkles

When it comes to waging war on the signs of aging, there are many potential weapons in your arsenal. However, not all these ingredients are created equal in terms of their effectiveness at diminishing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

One of the best ingredients to help prevent wrinkles is glycolic acid. We’ll tell you how glycolic acid works to turn back the clock on the skin.

What is Glycolic Acid?

Glycolic acid falls into the category of alpha hydroxy acids. Alpha hydroxy acids are derived from natural substances like milk and fruit. Glycolic acid actually comes from sugar cane and is used to treat a variety of skin conditions, including acne and the effects of aging.

Glycolic acid peels come in a variety of concentrations, ranging from lower amounts used in over the counter skin care products to higher concentrations used in glycolic acid peels in doctors’ offices.

How Does Glycolic Acid Work?

Glycolic acid peels work to prevent wrinkles through its exfoliating abilities. This acid effectively penetrates the outer surface of the skin, sloughing off dead dry skin cells to reveal softer smoother skin underneath. When old skin is removed, new skin cells are generated, which will appear younger and softer.

Some studies even suggest that glycolic acid peels might even stimulate the production of collagen, a substance that is responsible for firmness and elasticity in the skin.

Are There Risks?

In its undiluted form, glycolic acid is able to remove rust and other reside from surfaces. Clearly, this concentration would be quite dangerous for the skin! However, used in a diluted form, glycolic acid can achieve stellar results with few risks.

In some cases, redness or irritation can result when glycolic acid solutions are applied to the skin. This problem can usually be remedied by applying a smaller amount until your skin grows accustomed to the formula.

Glycolic acid also makes your skin more sensitive to UV rays, so sun protection is a must when using glycolic acid peels or other skin care products containing this substance.

Where Can I Find Glycolic Acid?

One skin care line that specializes in glycolic acid-based formulas is Glytone. This company uses free glycolic acid, which has been shown to produce even better results on the skin than other types of glycolic acid solutions. In addition to the ability to prevent wrinkles, Glytone skin care products can also reverse much of the damage that has already occurred.

Glytone offers a combination of professional products for use by medical professionals and at-home products that can help you continue your positive results. There are different lines available to prevent wrinkles and treat wrinkles that have already occurred. Product lines are also available for specific skin conditions, including acne and hyperpigmented skin.

Keeping skin looking young isn’t easy, but glycolic acid peels and other skin care products can produce stellar results. Talk to your dermatologist about the Glytone line to find out if there are products appropriate for your skin.

Four Reasons Organic Skin Care is a Must for your Beauty

Published by admin under Organic Skin Care

Organic skin care may be new concept for most people, but the reality is that if we knew what we were putting on our skin in the form of chemicals, pesticides and preservatives on a daily basis, we’d all be running to the nearest organic skin care product.

There are many reasons why organic skin care is a must for your beauty:

  1. Your skin is the largest organ of our bodies, yet we seem perfectly content delivering any number of chemicals to it. Instead, why not start a new skin care routine that involves only the use of naturally derived skin care products? In other words, we should all be giving our skin as much attention as we give the foods that we feed our body. After all, do you know what you’re feeding your skin?
  2. Organic skin care, thanks to a wide variety of companies committed to manufacturing organic skin care products, are easier than ever to purchase and use.
  3. Don’t let the idea of organic skin care fool you; the products used in most organic skin care products are just as – or more! – effective than their chemical –based counterparts.
  4. Organic skin care is a general term used for products that include naturally derived ingredients. Most organic skin care products do not contain any unnatural preservatives or parabens, and no organic skin care products are tested on animals.

Some of our favorite organic skin care companies:

Pevonia

Pevonia Botanica is an exclusive skincare brand that many spas throughout the world utilize for their clients. The same products used in spas are available for at-home use, as Pevonia has a great, easy-to-navigate website filled with exciting new organic skin care products.

Pevonia is a great choice for nearly everyone of nearly every age group and ethnicity. Pevonia has maintained a strong commitment to preserving the planet by using only those organic skin care products that maintain a “harmonious balance with nature and its precious resources by offering natural, cruelty-free formulas within eco-packaging.”

Jurlique

Another great organic skin care company is Jurlique, an Australian-based company that actually uses plants in their skin care products grown on their own farm. In fact, Jurlique grows over 35 different varieties of plants and flowers on over 135 acres. Some of the sumptuous ingredients found in many of Jurlique’s organic skin care products include: lavender, rose, marshmallow, licorice and calendula.

Jurlique has been around for 25 years, and has since developed hundreds of organic skin care products. Their mission is to “provide the purest, most effective skin care through natural, high performance products.”

The founders of Jurlique, who were both scientists of chemistry, herbology, homeopathy and alchemy, started their company on the premise that they would find the most ideal environment, free of pollutants, in which to begin their work with organic skin care. That place happened to be South Australia and they have since worked to create skin care that maintains, preserves, restores and protects the skin.

Options Abound for Dark Circle and Puffiness Around the Eyes

Published by admin under Eye care

There are many people that suffer from having dark circle and puffiness around the eyes. While some people may be prone to having them throughout their life due to heredity, others seem to acquire them over time. Dark circle and puffiness around the eyes can be caused by a number of factors, including heredity, allergies, pigmentation irregularities, sun exposure, thinning skin, and lifestyle factors, such as drinking and smoking.

No matter how you may have acquired the dark circle or puffiness around the eyes, there are options available to help treat the condition. Some of the best products to treat this condition include Hylexin, Neocutis, Z. Bigatti Eye Return, and SkinWithin EyeBright.

Dark circle and puffiness around the eyes quickly ages ones appearance. Many people try to cover up dark circle and puffiness around the eyes by getting a suntan or concealing it with makeup. Both of these options are not ideal, because the suntan may actually do more damage and the make-up may cause redness or swelling, depending on the ingredients.

Rather than be embarrassed or try to wear sunglasses all the time, consider choosing one of the effective treatments that are available. You will be glad you did!

Scar Care is Much Easier with the Right Skin Care Products

Individuals experiencing problems with self esteem due to moderate to severe scarring now have many options available to them due to the variety of products available on the market today. Many do not even realize that companies make skin care products specifically for this reason; however, companies like Dermablend have created many of their products for that exact reason.

When you make the choice to try to cover up your scar or scars, you don’t want to spend a lot of money on a product that is not going to work the way that you intend it to. Unfortunately, there are many products out there that are far from suitable for covering scars, yet the (often) large companies that make them advertise “complete coverage”. Individuals then spend their hard earned cash in the hope that these products will work for them but are then disappointed when the products fall short of their expectations.

Companies that specialize in these products, however, focus their efforts on finding out what works and what does not. These companies also tend to be smaller and offer fewer products – not because they don’t want to earn more business, but because they want to concentrate on delivering the best skin care product possible. Dermablend is a perfect example. This company is world renowned for their Cover Cream, and with good reason. When applied as the instructions detail, this product covers scars, redness, burns, and even the most colorful tattoos. Though they don’t offer a giant array of products for the consumer, what they do offer works amazingly well.

There are a handful of companies similar to Dermablend that offer products that provide great coverage. Illuminare, for instance, offers gentle skin care products that also provide moderate to full coverage. Though their products are not meant for heavy scarring, they do work well for mild to moderate scarring.

For more information on skin care for scars, vitiligo, rosacea, redness, or moderate to severe acne, http://drskinspa.com is a wonderful resource. We believe that education is essential for our customers in order to ensure complete happiness with all of their skin care product purchases. Follow us, or stop by and visit us today to learn more!

Taking the Mystery Out Of Moisturizers

Published by admin under Moisturizer

Using a moisturizer is one of the most important parts of a skin care regimen, and it is also one of the parts that are understood the most poorly.  People are mystified by moisturizer, and don’t know what kind to use, how much to use, when to use it, and whether they should use it or not. All of those are perfectly valid questions, and beyond the scope of a single post. However, by understanding why we need these products, and how and who should use them, we can start to demystify this product category a little bit.

First of all, the skin has a natural moisture balance that it should sustain while healthy. There are a variety of different skin problems which cause this moisture balance to be disturbed, all of which can be extremely frustrating to deal with. For instance, people with excessively oily skin often develop acne, because the excess oil builds up and contributes to blocking the pores on the face. However, in order to properly cure oneself of acne, you have to use an acne cleansing and treatment product which can be extremely drying. This is a great example of when to use a moisturizer. If you don’t use one in order to help put your skin at a proper moisture balance, your skin can overreact to the dryness factor and product to much oil again, creating a vicious cycle because that excess oil will only clog your pores again.

By the same token, people who have dry or flaky skin need to make sure that they are moisturizing on a very regular basis, because that is their best defence to try and get their dry skin problem under control. There are some products which are even better though for protecting skin against becoming dry, flaky, or itchy. A great idea is to use a combination moisturizer sun block, because a product like that will not only replenish the moisture levels of your skin, but it will also help to protect against the drying and aging effects which come from the sun’s harmful UV rays.
